- Glow plugs provide quick starts in temperatures down to -18°C (0°F) (Optional engine coolant heater attachment will assist starting under more extreme conditions.)
- Two quarter-turn fasteners allow operators to easily remove the engine side panels without tools to access to the engine compartment.
- The under-hood gas-lift support provides easy access to the engine compartment and eliminates the need for a mechanical prop rod.
External hood latch requires no tools and can release using the tractor key.
Daily service checks, such as checking the engine oil or water separator, can be done without opening the hood or removing the tractor side panels.
Tractors are equipped with a mechanical air filter restriction indicator that alerts the operator when the air filter needs to be cleaned or changed.
- All external engine, fuel, and transmission filters are easily accessible.
NOTE: Always refer to the operator’s manual for complete maintenance and service recommendations.
-
-

I have 2025 from 2014. I have been very happy with it.
I use have 350 hours on a 2025 from 2014. Mow, bushhog, load and grade gravel road. It has served me well. I keep in garage and have no issues with rust. Still looks great. If I got a new one I would get a bigger one I think. You can never have too much tractor.

Better than the 2210 but
The 2025R is a step up from my 2210 but low range is too slow and high range is too fast for mowing and could use more power. It also has a very annoying rattle from a slotted piece of metal to hold a couple of wires/tubes located just ahead of the fuel pump. John Deere or dealer was no help.

Great little tractor.
I have owned the tractor for a few months. Already cleared a fence line, dug a drainage ditch, and mowed my creek property. Work perfectly.

tough and resilient
Bought this tractor 3 years ago to manage farming one acre and mowing several acres of rough field. I've beat the heck out of it with no problems and it continues to perform well. It has excellent 4WD and is capable of most small tractor duties. The front loader has been a life saver in preparing our dirt road annually.

Seems well built, but watch out....
With 60 hours on my new 2025R I was mowing a pasture with a flail mower on the rear when things went wrong. No belly mower was mounted underneath, and Deere for whatever reason does not install a guard to shield the 4' long propeller shaft that extends from the transmission to the front axle. Grass and weeds wrapped around the shaft building up the diameter until clearance around the shaft was gone. At that point the side pressure snapped off the splined stub that sticks out the front of the transmission where the shaft connects. It's a major repair which fortunately was covered by warranty. But there's still nothing to protect the shaft from this happening again. IMO, this is a serious oversight on Deere's part. What am I supposed to do now, install a mirror so I can keep track of it from the driver's seat? If not for the fact that I own other JD equipment that has served well my rating would not have been as generous.

Mean little tractor
I was raised on a Texas Cotton farm and ran BIG Deere stuff (200-300HP tractors)all my youth years. Grew up moved to town only to find I really missed the country. Bought a small piece of land (30 acres)and needed a small tractor to work it. Purchased a 2025r with a front end loader, 48" Brush bull shredder and box blade. This little tractor is a beast! I dug a 20x40' pit 6' deep in near solid rock with the front end loader and teeth down on the box blade. I would break up the rock with a hand jack hammer into car hood or so size pieces and haul em out. I was VERY surprised how much power this tractor has and how much you can push in 4 wheel drive. The 48" brush bull with swinging hammer blades will mow ANYTHING smaller than 1,5" in diameter, Our place WAS covered in heavy thick central Texas Brush and Acasia bushes. This setup will mow em down flat in one slow pass. Prickly pear cactus is no problem either. I purchased a Frontier brand 54" rock bucket later that allows you to grub Cactus and move softball and bigger size rock with ease while letting the dirt fall through the "teeth". I just bought a 62D belly mower but have not used it yet as it id Jan 2nd as I type this review. I would highly recommend this tractor. I would say to any owner to put some good tire sealant in the tires as they will be flat if you run them in Mesquite or Cactus much. The tires are sorta thin IMO. Having said that I beat on mine pretty hard in sharp rock under heavy loads and haven tore a tire up yet...

Great Tractor with Front End Loader
I have owned my 2025 for just over a year and I can say I am 100 % satisfied with the tractor. The front end loader is an absolute necessity and makes the unit twice as versatile as one without the loader. I use the tractor for a lot of different things, light plowing, bush hogging, disking, moving firewood, dirt, gravel and digging post holes. The dealer I have conducted business over the past has been excellent, but when I took the tractor in for the 50 hour maintenance I had one minor problem that I needed fixed. The lift arms on the rear of the tractor were not level, causing the bush hog and disk to cant to one side. Even with the leveling device on the right lift arm cranked all the way up, the implement was still not level. The right rear lift arm needed to be removed and moved one notch down on the spline to correct the problem. The dealer simply put a locking nut on the bottom portion of the lift arm leveling device. Not a fix but I will give it a try. Minor annoyance.

My First Compact Tractor
I researched this purchase for probably 2 years. My biggest struggle was is 2025R worth the extra cost over a 1025R. I must say that yes it was the increased ability is well worth the additional cost. I loaded the tractor up with options. 3rd function valve was the same as purchasing a diverter and is more capable option and a much cleaner installation. The Load N Go is great for working on the deck.

John Deere Quality 2025R
I recently purchase a new 2025R and I absolutely love it. I purchased several addition implements To help manage my property such as a Brush Hog, Box Scrapper and my favorite a Backhoe. It works fantastic for digging out Arizona brush and buried rocks in the hard soil. The 2025R is a small tractor but it has passed every test that I have put it to. In addition it is very easy to operate. The only issue I have is I can't get my wife off of it.

Tractor is close to my 30 year old John Deere 855
I like the 2025R for the most part and in the market for a new John Deere tractor. Mostly for my experience with my John Deere 855 which will be 30 years old this year. My 855 has been extremely dependable and I have only needed to replace the battery and other small maintenance items such as oil and filter changes. With this legacy, I'll purchase another John Deere. I've also looked at the modem 2032R and find it better suited for me. Although the 2032R has roughly 600 more pounds in weight, it also has 40 percent more in rear linkage capacity and front end loader capacity. Turning radius between the 855, 2025R and 2032R is only 6 inches difference. Tire sizes are within proximity to each other. Although the 2025R is a great machine and will suit most I have to pick the 2032R because, unlike the 2025R,it does not have a Limited category hitch which may limit lift height and linkage width. All in all, it's a John Deere and both great tractors.

2025R
I Purchased my 2025R in March of 2015 with a 62 inch drive over a box blade and a tiller. The only thing i really had an issue with is the rattle from the heat shield. It actually broke i thought that was the reason for the rattle so i had it replaced and it still rattles so i just bent it out of the way. I probably should have opted for the 2032 as the 2025r bogs down on the hills i mow on.

A must have for small acres
I've owned my 2025r since 2/14/20 and now have almost 100 hours on it and to be honest I wished I'd bought it sooner. I have 3 acres that I maintain plus I use it to help maintain the adjoining woods of my neighbors. This tractor does it all! I use it to mow, spread fertilizer/lime for the several neighbors with my ss1023b, drag/haul firewood, push snow, heck, I even used it to remove my old asphalt driveway! Now it's not a D-6 or a JD 750 mind you, but it's still remarkable for its size! And I've run heavy equipment for several years! It's definitely a multitasker! No problems with it so far either. My John Deere Dealer ( Meade in Wytheville,Va) has also been very helpful with implement decisions and getting the best deals and if needed, financing. I always owned red but now I believe Green will be my favorite color!

Easy to use
We live on 35 acres with 30 of it rented to a local farmer. Originally purchased a 1025R, but it was just a little to small for what I was doing. The 2025 fits the bill perfectly.

2025R Almost perfect for this segment.
Got mine last year in 2013 and have used for 35 hrs to date. So far it has been above average with 62" mower deck. Could have used just a bit more power but it would also use more fuel so I'm pleased over all. That said I have several steep side hills to mow. This thing is great. Very stable so I don't get upset to throw it sideways on a slope. I do recommend this model to anyone . If you are planning on using as mower the front grill can possibly get clogged with grass clippings and you may need to stop once in a while to brush them off. [If you use bag unit this is not an issue only w/out bag and then only when mowing with deck at the highest setting] This is due to previous dry clippings that are left behind and the fact that I mow grass at the highest possible setting which allows more debris to escape from under the deck. Could be improved maybe , but not a real big deal as I need to stretch my legs every hour or so anyway.

wow Nice job Deere on the 2025
My 2025 got delieved on 10/04/13 with a loader and 62" mid mount mower and I'm very pleased. I trader a 2305 with a loader and 60" cut. What I great tractor I have owned John Deere tractors for over 25 years and the reason is easy try the 2025 and you will be hooker on. In my option the best compact tractor on the market. The 2025 is more stable on mower my hill then the 2305, guessing the bigger tires, added weight, longer and wider frame makes a big difference, I would have never believed if I hadn't been the one mowing. The gauges are easier to see and read and the 4 wheel light is grear. No transmission fan to worry about and the higher view from the driver is awesome. The loader works faster and low gear in the 2025 is faster then the low on the 2305, which is what I use for mowing. I have 10 acres to mow and about 2 are on hill. I had no problems with power or traction. In fact the bigger tires seem to have more traction and the ride is a lot softer and so far fuel consumption is measurable better on the 2025. I would recommd 2025 to anyone looking for big tractor performance in a compact one.

so far so good
doing various jobs around my 3 acres, i find this 2025 a nice size tractor. i have the loader and the oh so convenient backhoe attached fulltime. i find myself using the backhoe more. yes, you can stall it if you try grabbing more than its meant for. but just know the limitations of this size tractor and you can flogg it all day long and get a lot done without breaking a sweat. i just dont want a huge tractor. been there done that. if i trade in a few years i most likely will stay with J D. and move up to 2032 for that little extra asskick. otherwise it will be the same. such a good product. i used to be a design engineer for Cat and we always had to watch out for J D outdoing us for durability. J D is a good value for the money.

Love the Tractor but……
I’ve had the 2025 Tractor for about 5 months and I love it, has plenty of power and works hard, but has couple of things that can be improved: Seat Suspension needed for harsh ride, and needs a guide on the mower deck front attachment for when removing and installing deck with loader on tractor.

Does everything I put it through when it's not at dealership for repairs
Traded our 2012. 23hp sub compact tractor on a 2020 2025R this February. Put 24hrs on it managing 3acres and a large garden. Noticed oil under tractor after every mowing. Dealer has had 2 times now attempting to fix the mid pto seal. Each repair keeps leaking. The second time they have had over 4weeks trying to repair and and now we are being told John Deere is replacing the transmission. Very frustrating considering only 24hrs on the machine. I was raised on a farm with John Deere and work as a Heavy Equipment Operator and still love John Deere. Just hope they get it figured out. Hats off to dealer as they have been on top of things even going as far as making sure we have a mower when needed. Guess it's my turn to draw the short straw.

2025R Great tractor from mowing to food plots and landscaping
I purchased John Deere 2025R. I carefully reviewed and looked at the 1025R. And must admit i was impressed. Nice little tractor. Loader, backhoe, mower I thought wow what more could you ask for. Then I reviewed and looked at the 2025R. Larger tires, more lift capacity on loader and stronger hoe. I wanted a tractor that could do it all and the 2025R was the one for me. I like the larger tires more stability less tipsy when going though woods to reach fields where I do food plots for deer. I purchased mine with the 130H loader(Quick Attach) and 270A backhoe. (Quick Attach) I LOVE this tractor. I have a 3 point 5 ' finish mower and a 5' brush hog and it handles them with ease. The backhoe has great power and you don't have to take off 3 point to install it. The 3 point is needed to hook it up. That's another key feature over the 1025R. I have nothing against the 1025R it is a bit more fancy nicer seat 12volt outlet storage compartment but the 2025R is more of a work tractor and all those extras could be added if you feel there necessary well worth the extra $$$$. For better lift and stability. I hope this helps anyone that's stuck between the 1025R and the 2025R like I was. But if your still not sure. I never heard anyone say I wish I Bought a smaller tractor.

Tractor has been great-? on MMM
I bought it back in Feb, and used the front mount snow blower and loader with great success. Question is I have to take loader off or it hits mower deck draft arms. Is this correct, I saw 1025r you dont have to take loader off.

Great Tractor
Owned a 1023E and traded up to the 2025r and it was a very good move. This tractor is the all around package. Small enough to cut grass with, but packs enough hydraulic and PTO power to do most anything I need it todo, from grading, rotary mowing, and seeding. Only found one thing I am a little disappointed with and that is what you have to go through to get to the main drive shaft front U joint grease fitting up by the engine. Wish they would have put the access panel through the lower dash pane, so you didn't have to loosen the whole dash to move it out of the way to get to it, but that is the only thing I have found that i don't care for. I defiantly give this tractor an A+. Great little machine.

The little engine that could :) !
This compact tractor and backhoe is the perfect size for my wife and I to operate and maneuver around our little place. The manual thumb of the backhoe is a MUST HAVE!!!

Huge tractor in a small package
I have a 2014 2025r with 658 hard hours on a 62 acre Christmas tree farm. I run a 5' brush hog, 5' tiller and a 64" rear snowblower. It handles them all awesome with no problems. I have worked the snot out of this tractor and it only amazes me. The tiller and bucket combination has turned it into a little bulldozer. I have cleared a lot of brush and trees with the brush hog on back and forks on the front. I have a hard time believing the people who rated this low knew what they were doing. I do wish that manufactures including john deere would make a skid plate to protect the front drive shaft at the output end to keep tall weeds from wrapping around and snapping it. I built my own.

2014 2025R
Tractor gets used by everyone in the family. To give you an Idea of to what extent let me just list the attachments we have. Mid mower with mulch kit ( wouldn't mow with out the mulch kit again, such a better cut. ) front loader, tiller, flail mower, bushhog mower, 2 bottom plow, potato plow, 6' disc, dry spreader, reese hitch for 3pt, back hoe, and quick hitch. So you can see why its so important that you can have multiple attachments on the tractor and operate them individually. The ease of changing attachments is KEY. I have installed and removed every single attachment I have in less than 30 min. just to win a bet with someone that didnt buy a DEERE. With 25 acres to tend you shuffle alot of equipment off and on in a day. Love the tractor.

2025R
I ordered a 2025R with backhoe and bucket and a 54 inch mower deck. I have had the backhoe rebuilt after a hour of use do to excessive leak down. I would disconnect it and it would just bleed off to the ground making it hard to reconnect even if I tried right after I took it off. The backhoe has no power and will not dig through the smallest roots. Tractor did not have the power to back up a slight incline with a full bucket of topsoil just wouldn't move. The drive on and off mower did not work as advertised when the John Deere mechanic was showing me how to use it the mower caught the bucket stand and bent a number of brackets up front. The neutral safety switch has no light and is hard to get to engage half the time the tractor is killed when you get off when you think you have it engaged.

This is a great tractor
I have had several John Deere tractors. I traded my 2305 on this 2025 and was very impressed. Plenty of power, mowing and handles terrain well. Loader workes great ,also have a rear snow blower, wouldn't trade this combo for anything.

I love my green machine, but.....
I've reached about 46 hours tach time in just under two months of ownership. I have the 2025R w/ H130 FEL & 270A backhoe w/ thumb/ 54D deck. Overall, I can't complain. I do like the machine a whole lot. I think a lot of my issues may be 'newbie' issues. There's a lot of engine knock between 1600-2000 RPMS. Normal? Maybe. The heat shield rattle drives me nuts as well. Both are of no major concern, but are bothersome. I'm happy, but keep thinking I should have gone to the 2032R or even a 3033R. I always feel that I should have gotten more for the money. In the end, I must say, it's a wonderful tractor just a bit pricey for what I got IMHO. HP is sufficient if you are reasonable about expectations. Don't think you're getting a commercial performance beast here. It's reasonable for a small land owner/residential use. I do love the thumb on the 270A backhoe. Very useful. I should mention the u-joints grease issue! There isn't a lot of information beyond the forums, like GTT. My 50 hour maintenance is due soon and this U-joint thing has me concerned. Can't see how to get to the fittings, and don't want to mutilate or dismember my machine for a simple routine lube task. Bad on JD for not doing a better job on documenting and giving clear access for this. Maybe, it will turn out to be a non-issue. I'll edit if that is the case. Summary, If you have the cash, just step up to a 2032R or 3033R and don't look back. If 2025R is the cap of your budget, you won't be disappointed. It does deliver, but if you are like me, you'll always want the next size up machine! Hoping to trade up to a 3033R or 39R next summer!

2025R
I owned a 2210 s.c.u.t and it was ok but JD really cut alot of corners on that model and did not design the 2210 very well. it was basically a garden tractor with a 540 pto a weak one at that. With all that said i did alot of research on the new R series and i really liked everything i had read and i like the size of the s.c.u.ts but need the durability of a fulll frame compact and the 2025r hit the spot i have owned for 3 months and have done stuff with it that i would have bet lots of money saying it would do it and would be in huge debt! because it did it!!

2025R Big disappointment!
I recently traded my 2010 JD 2320 with a 62" drive over mower deck for a 2021 JD 2025R with a 60" auto-connect mower deck. I ordered this tractor and when it arrived this was sure a disappointment. The 2025R just seems cheap!! For example the individual brakes have been reduced to a single brake pedal, the drawbar has been replaced by a plate with a hole in it, the light that indicates that the 4WD is engaged no longer exists, the levers to shift the pto and hi and lo for the transmission seem very flimsy compared to the old solid levers, the rollbar no longer folds down out of the way, instead it folds down just enough to walk right in to it with your forehead when you try to walk behind the tractor and finally the pedal to lock the differential is just a rod that only sticks out about an inch. I was told by my salesman that there is an aftermarket pedal you can get for the diff lock. When I ordered this tractor I did not see the new models, but I went with 2025r Instead a 1025r because I didn't want to go backwards, but compared to my 2320 it doesn't seem to live up to the standards. I was told that the 2320 was made by Yanmar for John Deere and that the 2025R is made directly by John Deere this is probably the most disappointing part!!

Very happy 2025R owner
i have a 2019 2025R with loader, backhoe, 54D mower, rear Frontier blower and other non-Deere implements. It is used on our large forested property for all types of regular (mowing, snow) and periodic (box blading, digging, etc.) tasks. Perfect machine for our size property and usage pattern. While the 1025R is similar and very capable, the tire size, height, clearance, weight, ground speed, and stability differences more than justify this machine in my opinion. With tractors, more power and size is almost always better but I have found you need to buy for your expected usage and realistic "peak" uses to avoid buyers remorse. I have read about many upgrades created by just slightly underbuying. This particular tractor feels like and for me is one that allowed me to feel very satisfied without looking up at the larger frame 2-series or entry 3-series with tractor envy. This is a very capable and relatively affordable machine.

Great Tractor
I use this for Grinding Stumps, and other general tractor work. Traded in my 1025R for this one. It is a very great up-grade. Heavier and sturdier, which is what I needed.

seems great but for what I consider to be a couple flaws
For the most part love the tractor and find it to be a good tool. It does however require a bit of crawling around under to attach and detach the mower deck which when your getting a bit older can be a serious challenge let me tell you, if you have nothing on the back like a ballast box or other accessory its a reasonable job but again a bit of a challenge for us older folks. The PTO switch underneath tends to be a bit flaky and just don't see it being protected enough. If you bump anything like a twig or something if your out in the pasture you better plan on having to fix it. Setting those two issues to the side its a great compact tractor and gets the job done.

2015r with loader, backhoe, mid mower and pallet forks
Oil leak at rear of tractor. Loader leaks down quickly! From a height of 41" the bucket is on the the ground in 6 minutes. Raising the 3 point lever causes engine to labor. Will also cause independent mid hydraulics to raise by itself. Loader bucket is difficult to put on. Pallet forks fits perfectly as does my son's bucket from his 1025r Tractor was delivered with nuts and bolts loose and some pins missing. It you contact service is always 2 to 3 weeks before we can work on it. Yet they delivered it in that condition.

lOVE MY 2025R
I PURCHASED THE 2025R ABOUT THREE MONTHS AGO AND HAVE ABOUT 45 HOURS ON IT NOW. IT HAS BEEN ABSOLUTELY THE BEST SO FAR. I USE IT FOR BUSHHOGGING, GRASS CUTTING, MOVING DIRT, AND MANY OTHER LITTLE THINGS AROUND MY PROPERTY. I HAVE ABOUT 6 ACRES AND BUSH HOG ABOUT 4 ACRES AND THEN USE THE MID MOUNT MOWER FOR THE OTHER 2. IT GETS THE JOB DONE. I DON'T REGRET THIS PURCHASE AT ALL.

fantastic little machine
Just bought a 2025r this year with loader and backhoe. I own a landscape construction company and was looking for a smaller scale machine to get into tight areas that all my other skid steers and excavators cannot get into. I was very doubtful at the beginning that this machine could perform to the needs that myself and my guys were looking for... but let me tell you i was very wrong. This machine has already become an essential piece of the crew. Even though it is very small compared to my other equipment , it can definitely hold its own. Plenty of power and super user friendly. I would highly recommend this machine to anyone. From a business standpoint , a happy crew is a productive crew and this machine alone has definitely ramped up production by itself. well worth every dollar invested.

Makes managing our land much easier
I bought the 2025R a few months back to help with my bad back. It's exceeded my expectations. We added forks, a rototiller, and post hole digger and now can do nearly anything we want. We've also used the tractor to do things that we never even thought about. While I wouldn't hesitate to buy again, I'd probably go with the smaller 1025R. While the 2025R is more stabile and comfortable for me, the 1025R would fit into smaller spaces.

second lawn tractor to blow head gasket
I have been a loyal JD customer for the past 32 years. But, as of late, I am getting very frustrated with the product. My 2025R just blew a head gasket! It is 2 years old with 400 hrs. This is the second machine that I have owned that has blown a head gasket. No....I did not overheat the engine. My 1026R that I traded May 2018 also blew a head gasket with minimal hours on the engine. I have always been a JD fan but this is getting frustrating and very suspect. What is going on with the Yanmar Diesel that they are blowing head gaskets. I have antifreeze leaking out of the head gasket and dripping down the side of the block. Be on the look-out for this telltale sign of a blown head gasket. My dealer says this is unusual and I must be unlucky. What the heck John Deere? I am now dead in the water for 7-10 days without a machine and a ton of projects and grass cutting that needs to get done. I need a reliable product! Sincerely, loyal JD customer but fading fast.

Love the 2025R!
Quick history - in 1975 I bought a JD210 - 10hp with 47" deck. Started every time I turned the key. In 2015 went from 1 acre to 3, so I picked up a 1023E. It was nice, but I decided a bit more clearance and wheel base might improve ride, so Nov 2019 traded for 2025R. Love the loader, more relative comfort of ride and seat.

Excellent little machine
My 2025R has 150 hours on it and has spread over 1200 yards of dirt using the bucket and box blade. At times the dirt was wet and very heavy. I have pushed it to the limits and it hasn't failed me once. The drive on mowing deck is also very well constructed and is extremely easy to install and remove. It cuts grass as good as a push mower. This is one quality machine!
